How to play hooky around Yonge and Eg

November 13, 2015 • Toronto • Y&E Life

We get it, sometimes you need to take a “personal day” and play hooky from work. Luckily for you there’s tons to do around Yonge and Eg so you can live it up without even leaving the ‘hood.

This is the best way to spend your day off. It’s time to…

Coffee at Crosstown Coffee Bar
Obviously our first stop is for some coffee. There are a few great spots in the neighbourhood to grab a cup of java. Crosstown Coffee Bar is a hidden gem in the neighbourhood and the perfect spot to chill out.

Workout at Surfset Toronto
Get your surf on. Forget hitting your average gym and try something a little more interesting. It’ll help bring your workout to another level and bonus: it’s fun too!

Lunch at Wild Burger
After such a workout, you’ll definitely be hungry again. Wild Burger is one of the best burger joints in the area and features some exotic meats like kangaroo or camel burgers if you’re feeling on the adventurous side.

Some spa time at Pure + Simple
Heading for an urban renewal facial is one of the best ways to spend part of your day off whether you’re a lady or a gent.

Shop away the afternoon
The best time to hit the shops is while everyone else is at work. Whether you want to pick up some new threads from Intuition, add some books to your collection from Indigo, or browse the vinyl at Vortex Records.

Dinner at Little Sister
Some great Indonesian eats are nearby at Little Sister. Head south and enjoy a some spice for dinner and some Indonesian-Dutch flavours in their trendy little space. Oh, and there’s some good drinks on tap too!

Catch a Show at Absolute Comedy
No big deal, but one of the best comedy clubs in the city is nearby. Head to Absolute Comedy to take in a show in the evening and enjoy some of the talent that Toronto has to offer.

Late Night Eats at Duke of Kent
We’d like to think that every awesome day is topped up with some late night eats. Head to Duke of Kent for some pub fare or, better yet, the Redpath Diner is serving up some favourites at any time of the day.
