One of our favourite places to go for a getaway is New York City. Since it’s only a short plane ride away, we love to go to the city that never sleeps. From shopping to theatre, there’s an endless amount of things to do in NYC. Here’s how to pack a lot into one day.
9:00am – Grab a cup of coffee
You know our priorities in the morning are always coffee. Head to Ground Support in SoHo for one of the best cups of coffee that you’ll find in NYC. Bonus: there are always some cute dogs around to give a pat.
10:00am – Take in some culture at MoMA
There are so many amazing museums and galleries in NYC, so there’s definitely no shortage of culture. MoMA is world-renowned and there’s almost always an amazing temporary exhibition on in addition to their regulation collection.
12:30pm – Head to Chelsea Market
The perfect midday break. Grab some lunch at one of the amazing food spots, do a little shopping from local vendors, and head across the street to the Highline to check out some amazing views of the city.
2:00pm – Central Park
No matter how many times you’ve been there, Central Park is a must-visit whether it’s by bike (there are a few places to rent nearby!) or on foot. If it’s summer, be sure to take a boat out on the water or relax in Sheep Meadow.
4:00pm – Pick up a sweet treat
Head to Magnolia Bakery for some of the sweetest treats you’ll find in Manhattan. It’s a favourite among locals and tourists alike. There’s also a lot to check out within walking distance, including Rockefeller Centre, Times Square, and lots more.
6:30pm – Dinner
After some time exploring and shopping the area, you’ll want to grab some grub at one of the best restaurants in NYC.
8:00pm – Showtime
If you went to New York and didn’t go to a Broadway show, did you ever really go at all? Earn some bragging rights by checking out one of the hottest shows on right now, Hamilton.
11:00pm – Sleep No More
Of course there’s a show called this in the city that never sleeps. Put on your mask and dive into the world of Sleep No More. Choose your own adventure and interact with the actors as you navigate your way through. It’s an experience to remember, for sure.
12:30am – Head to the club
New York’s hottest club is…well, there are many to choose from. We recommend heading out to Williamsburg to Output, one of the hottest spots and worth the trip over to Brooklyn.
2:30am – After hours
To wind down, head to The Brooklyn Inn. It’s one of the best after hours spots in New York and loved by locals. There’s even a jukebox and billiards for some Americana touches. The perfect spot to unwind.
