For The Meat Lover In You: The Butcher’s Son


If there’s one thing everyone loves, it’s great meat. That is unless you are a vegetarian or vegan, and in that case you may want to disregard this post.


There’s no question that The Butcher’s Son is the best place to buy it in our ‘hood. In a few simple words, their product is top of the line. You’re not going to find this stuff in Loblaws, people.


The idea to bring a high-quality butcher to Yonge and Eglinton came when Vito Rizzuto, the executive chef and owner of Five Doors North, was repeatedly being asked by customers where they could buy the meat he cooked for them at the restaurant. It didn’t take him long to come up with the idea to open a butcher shop with the help of Matthew Kumprey, the butcher who delivered the meat to Five Doors North’s door.


Their meat is always Canadian sourced, offering everything from juicy AAA Grade steaks to duck, pork and lamb. All of their beef is from PEI and is grass fed, whereas everything else is sourced in Ontario. They make their own burgers, sausages, and hot sandwiches made on fresh focaccia daily that you can pick up for lunch, and they offer lots of other sides too like BBQ wings, chicken pot pies and even the pork ribs from Five Doors North! They’ve even got speciality rubs and marinades you can use. Yum.


These local meats are great for anyone one the paleo diet, or you know, meatatarians.

Drop in for one of their grab-and-go lunches, or pick up some goods to grill up, but just remember THIS is the place to go for all your meat-related needs.
