We’re here to share a little secret with you: rooftops are in.

Nothing beats escaping the busy city streets, grabbing a drink, some sun, and kicking back with some friends after a long work week, or heck, after a long work day. Aside from basking in the heat of summer, whether it’s a rooftop patio or pool, 10 out of 10 times you’ll get a pretty sweet view of the city too.

Toronto’s lucky to have a variety of sweet rooftops to spend summer days on, it’s just a question of finding the best ones. The good news is, once 150 Redpath is built you’re not going to have to worry about going anywhere other than the top of our building to find a great hangout. We’re going to have a state-of-the-art rooftop infinity pool and hot tub entirely surrounded by beds and chairs that you can spend an afternoon relaxing on. But more on that later.

For now, you’re just going to have to sit tight and make use of some of the other rooftop hotspots Toronto has to offer. Here are our suggestions to keep your occupied this summer:

Thompson Hotel
Getting a membership to the Thompson Hotel might not be the worst idea so you can spend your days poolside at one of the hottest spots in the city.

Spend your weekends downtown at Cube’s rooftop bar and get a killer view of the CN Tower while you’re at it. It’s always packed at night so get there early so you’re not stuck inside.

Drake SkyYard
Another rooftop that’s always packed is the SkyYard on top of The Drake Hotel. If you feel like checking out what the west end has to offer, this is an awesome choice. Great cocktails, great atmosphere.

Gusto 101
Head to this King West spot if you feel like grabbing a drink and a bite after work. They’ve got wine on tap, awesome Italian food, and their rooftop patio is awesome.

Cafe Nervosa
Need to impress a first date? Head to Cafe Nervosa’s rooftop patio – it’s smack in the middle of one of the city’s most swanky neighbourhoods, Yorkville. Cafe Nervosa just so happens to be owned by the same people as Gusto 101, and it’s a well known fact that Beyonce and family have dined there before. Just saying.
